How Novel.

First off, thank you all who weighed in about the Roe Habitat Blouse. I am elated to have one on it’s way to me via a best offer on Ebay. You’ll be seeing deer at play soon, ladies. Very soon.

While I’m at it, I’m gonna get mushy.  Thank you to all of you who take the time to comment on here.  That’s why I started this blog in the first place, to have a spot where I could talk and ramble at length with other Anthropologie die-hards who “get it”. So when I’m talkin’ to myself, it feels a bit lonely. I know there are a bajillion blogs out there to comment on, so I do truly value the time you take reading the frou-frou that spills out of my head and the comments you leave. I don’t always have the time to reply to each comment, but I read each and every one…and try my best.  So, thank You!

So, about the 3 new pretties I bought…. Some of you know me quite well. Good guesses, you little fortune tellers.

One of them though, none of you guessed. If I were the betting kind, I wouldn’t have bet I’d buy them either.

In truth, I bought both of these items before the catalog shots came out of them being paired together. Hey, when it’s good, it’s good…right? Why mess?

About the pants….Novel indeed!  They are like BUTTAH! So soft. Flare on them is ridic. So ridic it’s rad. I friggin’ love them. The top….light as air. You can roll the sleeves to hide the bit of print on the inside band of the wrists, or you can show it. I’m all bothered by the coral color now…thinking I need it too!

The other item I purchased? I was seduced by Pam Hiran again!

Sparked Agate Bib Necklace

I have already tried it 10 ways in my closet and ladies…we have a winner. This is one of those pieces I feel I’d log serious hours hunting down on Ebay a year from now if I let it get away. Looks particularly great with this and this.

I played around a little bit with the Dime Novels. Would love to wear them all three of these ways as well.

Dime Novels Set 1

Dime Novel Set 2

Dime Novels Set 3

Have you tried the Dime Novels on? Feeling as inspired by them as I am?

I’ve gotta say…..I’m feeling gushy about them in a “they are my muse” sort of way.

I Drank the Polka Dot Juice

Nay.  GUZZLED it. That’s what I did.

On one of my recent Anthro fly-bys, the fabulous personal shopper at our San Antonio location pointed out to me that the AG Stevie Ankle jeans were now offered in….gray, with tiny white polka dots.  Shut the front door….polka dot Stevies?!?  She held them up for me to see….and I forget everything else that happened after that.

I kid.

I tried the suckers on fast as lightning and promptly began calculating how I could make these mine.  Cause polka dot pants wait for no one.  And they shouldn’t.

I put them on hold so I could think clearly, away from the intoxicating candles and crooning Indie singers.  I put them on hold again.  It was no use….I couldn’t get them out of my mind.  So I went back and committed.  And boy, am I glad I did.

Sorry for the scary 'What big teeth you have' smile I've got going on in this photo. My little Bankster Boy was cracking me up, sitting in his Bumbo seat, grinning away while we took these photos. They are SO comfy. Hope y’all are polka dot fans, cause you’ll be seeing quite a bit of these lovers.

I popped back in Anthro today to order the Palma Dress that hit sale last week. I haven’t had time to go in all week, so the one I had placed on hold last Tuesday sold. They only had one in my size.  Now my store is down to one unit of the dress, a size 10 if you’re lookin’.   And online is sold out of them.  I panicked.  Good thing I ran in because I was told tomorrow starts Anthropologie’s Employee appreciation period, where they get quite a significant savings off of sale items.  Translation: that Palma Dress will be GONE, baby GONE after the employees have a go at her.  So if you want it, or any other sale item you’ve been after and the stock seems to be low….I’d speed dial customer service and make it happen.  Just my two-cents.

Good news to my tiered ruffle-slip DIY inquirers….it will post on Thursday, so check back for that post!  Thank you mucho for your patience.

Other exciting stuff? Besides the 2 baby shower posts (with tons of DIY’s), more Flex your Style Series posts, the paper fan wall DIY Tutorial (I did it for the green/gray Wedding reception), and Yarn ball/paper fan DIY Chandelier to show you, I have another sweet DIY piece to show you.  TOTALLY 100% inspired by Anthro.  Here’s a sneak peek.

Can’t wait to show it to you, the whole shabang!

A Non-Invasive Facelift

Okay, so the Anthrofied DIY challenge is now officially closed.  Thank you so much to all who entered….And may I just say, that you are all in for a splendid, crafty feast.  I’m so proud of you readers who dug deep, burned your fingers to a fare-thee-well, burned the midnight oil (in some cases), and made it work, people!  Sleep? Who needs it.  Sleep is always worth sacrificing for aesthetic pursuits.  (Shh….don’t tell my book club compatri0ts I just said that, being that we just finished reading Nurture Shock and spent quite a chunk of time singing the praises to the chapter on sleep needs.  Hypocrite much?  Yes, when it comes to creating things with my hands, I toss sleep aside faster than last week’s garbage). Anyway……

I can’t wait to show you what all these crafty-McCraftersons have been up to.  Alas, you must wait another day.

Today though, I wanted to show you how my Uncle Buck’s doing.  That nook he’s in just keeps a-changin’.  After I gave Bucky a nice new coat of shiny white, I decided I still wanted a bit of funk in there.  So Bucky went funky. He got a non-invasive Facelift.

Uncle Buck gets a Facelift

I’ve seen yarn-wrapped twigs done in the name of decor, and I’m sure I’ve laid eyes on antlers wrapped in yarn at one point or another….most likely on Pincrackerest.  Yes, Pinterest is crack.  There, I said it.  Anyone who disputes this claim hasn’t tried it.  And once you do, you’ll be a gonner too.  Go ahead, …try it.  Prove me wrong.  Pretty soon they’re going to have to open a Betty Pinterest clinic for addicts.  You’ll never know when I commit myself…I’ll totally use an alias. :)

Back to Bucky….I really dig his new look.  The yarn wrapping reminds me of quirky sweatbands, but I think that’s the whimsy/unexpected touch I tend to like about design, whether it be in decor or fashion.  Unexpected, funky-yet-cohesive touches.  I added a few old white books I picked up from Goodwill for a wedding I did a few months back to tie in the white theme…and there you go.  I told Bucky he looks cooler with his sweat bands….don’t you think he looks a little bad ass, like he might belong to a deer gang or something?  Don’t mess with the Buckster.

My 10 year old had a solo in the 5th grade performance the other night….they always tack on a PTA meeting before school performances to trick us into attending an actual PTA meeting.  It’s lame, but I see the point.  Otherwise, how would they ever get a vote on what kind of plants we want on the front walk?!  And how much of our budget should be allocated for balloons?  Life or death decisions, y’all!  Here’s how I rolled (literally) to the PTA meeting/ performance….

Wearing: Sweater-Banana Republic, Skirt-Gap Maternity, Belt- Anthropologie Vivid Brink Belt, Shoes-Anthropologie Fine Cut Oxfords, Earrings- Anthropologie Triphasic Hoops

I know it’s not exciting….but seriously, I’m a 10,000 degree kiln, and prefer to be naked every second of the day if I could….so this outfit you see above is kind of a miracle.

Hope all’s well today in your neck of the woods.

xoxo Molly
