I tried the Blocked Verse Tunic on at the AG event held at my local Anthropologie on March 26. I fell hard, but had to leave it behind as other purchases took the lead. But I couldn’t get her out of my head.
She was giving me night sweats, I tell you. Night. Sweats.
I couldn’t leave her alone, visiting her online any chance I got, relishing in the fun possibilities she could offer my closet. So when an online order came that didn’t work out, I traded in and brought this gorgeous, graphic lady home with me.
The construction of this top is genius, really. The way the designers “blocked” the top and sides in stretch knit (aptly named “Blocked Verse Tunic”!) and then curved the bottom of the sleek, graphic-printed fabric is divine. Reviewers online are saying this runs small. I disagree. I think it runs true to size if not a little big. I tried on an XS and could have gotten away with it, accept the sides were buckling a little where my back and bum collide. So I went up to a small, and it’s perfect. True, I believe if your measurements are smaller on top and more ample on the bottom, this may not be the top for you, or you may feel the top is ill-fitting. It also may be a challenging length for petite ladies out there. For reference, I’m about 5′ 9.5″ and wear a size 6 on top and 4-6 on bottom, so…fairly straight-figured. I give it 4.75 fat, gold stars. I docked 1/4 star for the price cause I would have preferred to pay less but I obviously sucked it up.
The AG event was awesome. Really fun vibe, really chill. Great music, tasty treats, and breathing in Anthropologie on a Tuesday night? Uh…yeah. I’m SO there! The AG team on-hand was super cool to talk with, as well as the Anthropologie clan (including ** highlight** meeting several regional managers in attendance…p.s. i want your job….). They were so nice and friendly. Have I told you lately how much I love the staff at my local store? They all have cool genes embedded in their brains and they are always fabulous. The store looked super fly as always too:
Anyway, I tried on the new AG Stevie Roll-ups in the dark denim “Society wash” and I LUUUUVED them. Very “Grease is the Word”. I’ll totally buy them when they hit sale.
I also tried the Ping Embroidered Maxi Skirt:
and it was super fabulous. I think the price point is nose-bleed high, so I’ll be waiting for a big ‘ol sale on that one. The XS fit fabulously, and skimmed the floor when I wore it on my hips.
I drooled some more over the Sailaway Circle Skirt…pleaseohpleaseohplease hit sale soon!!
and then I tried the Venn-ster. My store had just gotten this top in THAT DAY and was already sold out of several sizes. I fell hard; end of story.
I bought a size 4 to avoid the top being too billowy. Yes, it’s short but it only rides up if I reach up for something above my head. I plan on wearing high-waisted bottoms with it, or make sure I have a cami on for lower-waist pants. I LOVE how they placed the polka dots layered on top of each other, and the hue of turquoise and red are “spot” on. (sorry, couldn’t resist). When I slipped it over my head in the dressing room, I started speaking jibberish and losing sensation in my fingers. I think that means you definitely make a purchase, right?
I’m so glad I didn’t wait on buying this top because, frankly, my bed would’ve been SOAKIN’ wet from the night sweats over this one.
If you wanna know what else is giving me night sweats…take a looksie here.
Night-sweatin’ over anything yourselves, ladies? I’m all ears.
