I’ve determined that playing hookie is awesome!
MacGyver and I took to the friendly skies sans children and flew to Dallas over the weekend, the purpose being a much anticipated job interview. We met with VIP’s for a chi-chi dinner, so I got to wear a newbie dress I’d been eyein’ at Anthro for the past coupla weeks. If a job interview ain’t the perfect excuse to acquire a new frock, then I don’t know what it is. Thankfully a good friend of mine wasn’t going to use her birthday coupon this month, so I took it off her hands and brought home Sister Cavatina at a nice discount .
If you haven’t tried on Ms. Cavatina, you really need to get on over to Anthro and give her a whirl. The slit on the side is perfect; it stops before “too far”, but goes further than “not enough”. The neutral army green color is much more interesting than brown or tan, and the leather detail on the cuffs says “I’m a good time, minus the naughty.” I may have felt a tiny bit like I should be boarding a swanky Starship from one of the Star Trek fleet, but that’s okay by me. It’s so different from the style of dress I usually gravitate towards, which makes it feel sorta like I’m taking a risk. Gettin’ cra-zay over here!!
Highland Park Village was incredible. Every designer name you could think of had a storefront there, and Cafe Pacific was nom-nom delicious! The Anthropologie in the village was BIG and well-stocked, staff were super friendly (one SA even asked if I had a blog! Thanks lady!) and we got an excellent recommendation for sushi the next night at a restaurant named Shinsei (also freaking fantastic!) I squeaked in the door 45 minutes before closing and found a few sale gems as thank-you gifts for friends helping watch my kiddos over the weekend in our absence.
We also reconnected with a dear friend whom we haven’t seen for 10 years, and also did a little real estate exploration to see where we’d like to plant ourselves in Dallas if we decide to take the job. When I searched the Anthro website for their locations in Dallas, I just about had a shopper’s stroke:
I think I’d be JUST FINE settin’ up shop in Dallas if that’s how it’s gonna go. JUST. FINE.
Hope your weekend was some kinda wonderful! So much to tell you this week….what else I purchased with the borrowed 15% off coupon, the Anthro-inspired baby shower I just finished, the winner to the Stormy Seas Necklace giveaway…from JULY (pathetic…totally aware of that….) and tons of OUTFITS! New color combos I’ve been digging, etc. So stick around and pipe up….I love a good Anthro convo any day!!
