A few months ago my heart was ripped out of my body, danced upon, squeezed, and injected with J.Crew affection. I’m used to this sort of experience; Anthropologie has schooled me. I drool over catalogs gone by every couple of months and think, “why the freak didn’t I buy that?” So when my tender heart was tortured by the August 2012 J.Crew styleguide, I decided I didn’t want the bitter taste of regret as a companion.
I flip-flopped the outfit color styling to suit my needs and my wardrobe contents.
And here’s where we landed:

Wearing: Top-J.Crew Short-sleeve Crepe Top, Pants-J.Crew Wool Cafe Capri, Belt-J.Crew, Shoes-Sam Edelman, Necklace-Anthropologie Rotary Dial, Earrings-Anthropologie
Any of you care to share if you have a favorite page you’ve ripped out of the catalog, that you may or may not sleep with at night, perhaps have made a virtual shrine around it, talk to it like it’s a real person?
Go ahead, tell all. Consider this your 12-step program.
xoxo Molly

Love this post – I too am guilty of saving catalog pics so I can recreate the look myself. One of my favorite summer looks is a denim buttondown, spotty shorts and scarf that I ‘borrowed’ from a picture in an Anthro catalog – very glad I held onto it now though!
I never even thought of tearing out pages to recreate but I actually think its a good idea because sometimes I have good ideas and then forget them.
I have a pile of catalog pictures that I tore out, sitting on my closet shelf. Love the inspiration picture and your take on it- I pinned both of them! Thanks for bringing the inspiration every time.
How did the sizing work on this top?
I took my normal size 6, so I think it's running true to size.
