How Novel.

First off, thank you all who weighed in about the Roe Habitat Blouse. I am elated to have one on it’s way to me via a best offer on Ebay. You’ll be seeing deer at play soon, ladies. Very soon.

While I’m at it, I’m gonna get mushy.  Thank you to all of you who take the time to comment on here.  That’s why I started this blog in the first place, to have a spot where I could talk and ramble at length with other Anthropologie die-hards who “get it”. So when I’m talkin’ to myself, it feels a bit lonely. I know there are a bajillion blogs out there to comment on, so I do truly value the time you take reading the frou-frou that spills out of my head and the comments you leave. I don’t always have the time to reply to each comment, but I read each and every one…and try my best.  So, thank You!

So, about the 3 new pretties I bought…. Some of you know me quite well. Good guesses, you little fortune tellers.

One of them though, none of you guessed. If I were the betting kind, I wouldn’t have bet I’d buy them either.

Wearing: Pants-Anthropologie Dime Novel Wide Legs, Cami-Anthropologie Eloise, Top-Anthropologie Dotty Jacquard Buttondown, Shoes- Target Wakana Wedges, Earrings-Anthropologie Triphasic Earrings

In truth, I bought both of these items before the catalog shots came out of them being paired together. Hey, when it’s good, it’s good…right? Why mess?

About the pants….Novel indeed!  They are like BUTTAH! So soft. Flare on them is ridic. So ridic it’s rad. I friggin’ love them. The top….light as air. You can roll the sleeves to hide the bit of print on the inside band of the wrists, or you can show it. I’m all bothered by the coral color now…thinking I need it too!

The other item I purchased? I was seduced by Pam Hiran again!

Sparked Agate Bib Necklace

I have already tried it 10 ways in my closet and ladies…we have a winner. This is one of those pieces I feel I’d log serious hours hunting down on Ebay a year from now if I let it get away. Looks particularly great with this and this.

I played around a little bit with the Dime Novels. Would love to wear them all three of these ways as well.

Dime Novels Set 1

Dime Novel Set 2

Dime Novels Set 3

Have you tried the Dime Novels on? Feeling as inspired by them as I am?

I’ve gotta say…..I’m feeling gushy about them in a “they are my muse” sort of way.

xoxo Molly

  1. You look long and lean in those pants – I am loving it!

  2. Dang, girl! You look awesome in those pants. I would have NEVER looked twice at them. You will have to clue us in on your workout/eating routine…cause you look great. I am glad to know that you love the dotty jaquard shirt. I have that little buttondown on my wishlist, but have not seen it in person yet.

I saw the pants just last week and was intrigued but passed by because I wasn’t sure I could make them work. But holy wow, your styling sets are making me think twice! You’re a genius!!

  4. DrewToo

I can't wait to see more OOTDs in these bold pants!

I love those pants. I currently have them in my online shopping cart, waiting to pull the trigger. I can't decided. I'm short– like so short that I even need ankle-length pants hemmed– so do you think this style pant makes me look shorter, no?, or should I not care and rock them regardless? LOL.

    • I am a firm believer that you just have to try things on before you banish even the idea of them. So I would head to a store with a few pins so you can use the pins to "hem them" momentarily in the dressing room. Keep in mind that if you decide to hem these so you can wear them with 3" heels, that will make your line long and lean. I am not hemming mine, but tried them on with several different heel heights and discovered hover perfectly over the floor if I wear no more than a 3.5" heel. In the bible of flowy wide legs….if you wear shoes that are too high with them, and the pants don't graze the floor, it actually makes you appear wider. But they are fan-tab-u-lous if they reach the floor. I say pull the trigger. You can rock them no matter what your height, if the heel is right. Proportion on top will be key for you ask well. nothing too oversized.

Thanks so much for the input! I fully believe in the grazing-the-floor length wide-leg pants and maxi dresses/skirts. Now, I must find my size!

  6. I love the print and glamour of these pants- you're gonna rock them, and I love seeing all the outfit ideas you have already!

And necklace twin (for I surely did get this one too…) I look forward to seeing your styling suggestions! I hadn't thought about pairing it with the layered column, but now I'm all full of minty anticipation!

    • Thank you much….I hope I do get to rock them frequently. Minty anticipation is correct indeed…So glad you snagged it too! I wore it the other night with the Layered Column for a dinner out, but forgot to snap a pic. I'll recreate it and post an outfit pic of it soon though. Works quite nicely, as the color of the stripes compliment the vintage gold hue of the round beads. The neckline is perfect for it as well.

Hi Molly, I read your blog all the time but rarely comment. I think you are an outfit making genius. Anyway, I have these Target palazzo pants sitting in my drawer and have never worn them http://www.target.com/p/xhilaration-juniors-palaz… so thanks for the inspiration for an outfit!

    • Aww, Katie…thank you so much, woman! I'm going to use that line when my kids question my knowledge about…oh….EVERYTHING! "Oh yeah, kids? Well Katie thinks I'm an outfit making genius….so there!" (hehe) Great Target pants! Hope you get tons of wear out of them now!

Like Katie, I read your blog regularly but hardly ever comment. Thank you for all your awesome posts!

    • Well I'm certainly glad to have you as a reader, and when you feel a comment bubbling to the service, I would love for it to surface here. Thanks!

You are my favorite Anthro blogger because of your awesome, eclectic taste and your great writing style. Please keep all your great posts coming!

  10. Bluehen

I love the Dime Novel wide legs on you. Such a great cut and pattern. Can I ask how the sizing was on them?

    • Hi BlueHen- I'm going to copy the reply to Jen since you both asked the same pertinent question. The sizing in Cartonnier ALWAYS runs small for me, and for most women. I usually size up in this brand. However, these are flowy wide legs, so I tried both the 6 and 8, and though the 6 is snug right now, I still have some pregnancy leftovers in the rear and hips to drop. You don't want them too tight or the pockets in the front pull and actually start tearing away at the seam. I noticed one pair in the store that appeared to have been mistreated in such a way. The size I have on in the photo is a 6, and I decided that though it's snug through the crotch area (for lack of a better word, sorry…that word is so nasty) I believe it will be perfect when I drop the rest of the weight. If you buy them too loose in the waist/butt area, it isn't as flattering. That's how the size 8 looked on me. I would suggest trying them on if you can get to a store or try locating your normal size and the next size up, purchasing both, and making your decision that way if possible.

Darling Molly, I can't hold off another blog's worth without coming out of the closet.! I wake up ….jump to the blog, laugh, giggle, awe struck at your creative adjectives that have me thinnking I could be an anthro woman someday. So this is what brave looks like. Your'e just full of sickness!!! I am an esoteric who believes in change. What an inspiration to woman kind!!! The Dime Novel had me shut the front door. My first blog comment ever. You just threw me over the rails with this one and I can't stands it no more. Silence is broken.

    • Mar…..shut the front door, is this really you? YOU DID IT!! Came out of the closet, for me?!? So happy to see you on here. Brave looks good on you.

  12. Lauren

I had noticed these pants before, but hadn’t really thought that much about them, but they look fantastic on you – very summery! I’m also glad to see I guessed right about the necklace – love talking ‘Anthro’ with you too!

  13. Jenn

Love all of the sets so much, can't even decide which I like best. I love when you do these sets soooo much tons of ideas!
Two questions….how is the sizing on the pants?
The Greene and white stripe sandals in the second set, where are they from? I would love to get them! Thanks!

    • Thanks, Jenn! Glad you liked the sets. I would suggest trying them on if you can or locating your normal size and the next size up, purchasing both, and making your decision that way if possible. Also, since they're basically sold out online, if you call a store to order, ask them to take a good look at the top corner of the pockets to make sure there aren't any tears. Phew…that was such a long-winded answer. Sorry!
The Green/white sandals in that set are from Madewell and are on sale right now….free shipping til tonight! I caved and bought them since I've been drooling over them for a solid month. I've read reviews on other Madewell shoes and decided to order a size up, as the description suggests half sizes ordering up anyway. I'll let you know how they are!

  14. Dawn

I've been losing sleep over there pants since I saw them online but hesitate because they're dry clean only… unlikely I'd do that… will you wash them? They've been sold out in my size for some time but could likely still get them from a store…? They're perfection – !!

    • Losing sleep….oh no! Don't stress. Yes, they are dry clean only, however I wash my 100% rayon items on a gentle cycle in my front loader with Woolite, in a mesh bag, then carefully hang them to dry. If you don't want to take the risk, then dry cleaning is your option. If you don't have real dirt or stains to get out of them and you just want a freshen up sort of laundered feel, you can do the low heat and those dry cleaner sheets in the dryer for a few minutes. I haven't washed these yet, so I can't tell you how they hold up for sure. Yes, you could definitely find these still in stores in your size. I'm going to do the "freshen up" approach until they get truly dirty, then wash by hand. That's my plan.

      • Dawn

Good plan. I'm usually rolling in dirt on a near-daily basis. Perhaps I'll keep dreaming and lust over your sets…. gah, SO good all of them – !

  15. Those pants were made for you to wear! Well done, lady. (:
