Colorphile Series: Submission Challenge

So, those of you who have been following me this past year know that I am a color lover, a color junkie, a down-right color whore fanatic.  One of the first posts I ever wrote was actually a guest post for the now defunct blog Anthroholic.  The post was all about color inspiration, where I find it when I need a boost, and how I implement it into what I wear. Here’s some photos to jar your memory:

Outfit inspired by the cover of a Pottery Barn Catalog

Outfit inspired by an existing print, in this case, the Wightwick Manor Dress.

This original artpiece inspired....

This outfit.

I ended the post with a challenge to any and all bravies who wanted to participate.  All you had to do was send me a picture of your inspiration and your outfit.  I ended up breaking up the post into two parts. You can read them here and here.

Thanks to all the ladies who participated, we had a good show.  I thought it was fun, so I’d like to make it a regular series here.

So here’s the skinny: Send me a picture of your outfit inspiration and, of course, of you wearing it.  You have one week to make it happen.  Submissions are due next Sunday night, March 4.

I hope you all find the time to participate, cause I’d love to see what has you inspired.

Lose the boots and I'm ALL OVER this outfit. You can bet I'll be a-huntin' for similarly-hued pieces.

Madewell done Quitewell.

To see which one of these color gems inspired me to dress the part, you’ll have to check out the Colorphile Submissions post next Monday.

For now, I’ll leave you with a morsel of a different kind…an OOTD.

Isn’t this orange color delightful?  Whenever I wear this top, I feel like a luscious persimmon.

Wearing: Skirt-Talbots, Top-Anthropologie Nicoleta Blouse, Belt-J.Crew, Tights-American Apparel, Shoes-Anthropologie Tegu Platforms, Earrings-Anthropologie

It’s just another Manic Monday, friends.  Hope you’re surviving!

xoxo Molly

  1. I love your outfit and those tights are fabulous. You really look great in orange.

  2. jenn

oh my the tights are fantastic, are they something that can be ordered online?

  3. Those are fun tights! Maybe I'll have to check out my local American Apparel for legwear – never looked before!

Also, this is SUCH a fun idea! I loved the previous posts (although I was reading them thinking "wow, these must take FOREVER!" and then you said "hey, these posts take forever!")

I am totally in! What a fun project for this week.

  4. I LOVE how you do this!! I am thinking of participating but honestly I feel so fat in everything… Oh the joys of pregnancy! I have refused to take the plunge into maternity wear (must get to 20 weeks, must get to 20 weeks) so next week I will bust them!

    • I totally hear you…before the 20 week mark, your regular clothes are just…tight. And people aren't quite sure if the winter's been hard on you and you've packed on a couple, or if they should ask if you're preggers. Lucky you though…maxi skirts and dresses are still in and that's ALL I wore when I was huge. I didn't bother with anything maternity except my old gap maternity jean skirt that I wore a handful of times. I say join in,…grab one of your husband's shirts and play!

  5. I am a newer reader to your blog-and I LOVE it!! You look fabulous every single day (well at least every single outfit I get to see:))!! I love your inspirations-and you have a smashing figure as well!! Where did you get that painting from? I adore it and would love to check out the artist further. Hopefully I can get a picture together soon of some fun outfit-but until then I will be busy drooling over yours.

    • Thanks Abby! The painting was done by a contemporary artist named Kate Mooth. She currently teaches at the Visual Arts Institute in SLC, UT. Her husband and my husband were in medical school together and we bought this piece from her at a show. this piece is much smaller than most of her gallery pieces, though the size was perfect for us.
